The Ark Pre-School

The Ark pre-school was established as a Christian playgroup in 1992 and has always been part of the church and local Edwalton community. They believe that no child or family group should be excluded from the playgroup’s activities on the grounds of gender, sexuality, class, family status, means, disability, colour, ethnic origin, culture, religion or belief. The Ark is situated in a bright modern church building with use of several rooms and outdoor play area. We are a voluntary managed setting, inspected by Ofsted and receiving local authority grant funding.

The aims of the pre-school are:

  • To respect and value children as individuals.
  • To support children to feel happy and secure, gaining confidence and independence.
  • To provide a safe and stimulating environment fostering a positive attitude to learning through a play based curriculum.

  • To develop strong partnerships with families to support their child’s development and well-being.
  • To provide a Christian ethos and understanding of basic Christian values through celebrating Christian festivals and Bible stories.
