First meeting back at church since March

ONLINE SERVICES:  In September we moved online platforms from Facebook to Church Online.  We had two 2-part sermon series', one from Roy Todd who oversees all the AOG churches in the Central East England region, speaking on dream a little more and Ali wrapped up the month speaking on fellowship.  We had worship and a My Stories each week and connected together via a Zoom call after the service to carry on talking about the service.

RPM:  Our first physical meeting back at The Hub was this month's Rock Prayer Meeting.  Not only did we gather in person but also on Zoom.  It was an awesome time in God's presence praying for specific areas including vision, Lutterell Hall, NFFC chaplaincy, FIC, Grow, those vulnerable & isolating and for Sunday services. With prayers being said at the Hub and on Zoom a great evening connecting with God as one.

FIC:  We kicked off our Freedom In Christ course this month with 50 people taking part.  Happening via the power Zoom, the group watched a video together before splitting into smaller groups to discuss and share.  They have fosucsed on Who Am I?, Choosing To Believe The Truth and The World's View Of Truth.

During lockdown the youth team have endeavoured to keep the RYG connected by meeting weekly on zoom.  Our young people are amazing and during what has been a difficult period for us all, our teenagers showed a great deal of resilience and tenacity as they continued to study from home, whilst separated physically from their school friends. This is something I’m sure we all found hard to adjust to but the attitude of our teenagers was commendable as they just took it in their stride!

When the restrictions were lifted slightly in August, we had a socially distanced gathering at The Hub and it was so good to ‘see’ them and just connect with them as a team and talk about the ups and downs of the last few months, as well as have some fun and we were also able pray with them as they contemplated starting back at school physically in September.

It is a year since we took the young people to Bonsall Camp and we all had such an amazing time with God and in fellowship with each other that we were really excited to return this October.  However, sadly this has had to be postponed due to the Covid-19 restrictions but we are hoping to rearrange it at some point during the first half of 2021.  Watch this space!

The older youth (15-18 yrs) are currently doing the Youth Freedom in Christ course with Kate & Cathy and we have also acquired two young people from Catalyst Church in Upper Saxondale.  It really is a privilege to do Freedom in Christ with them and we passionately believe that it has the potential to transform their thinking and ultimately their lives if they are able to grasp hold of the truths they are being taught.

We are hoping to facilitate something for the 11-14 year old girls as they continue to grapple with the everyday issues they face in school in their friendships amongst other things and also how they see themselves as Christians and their identity in Christ.  I am hoping to start this after half term and further details will follow in due course.

Our vision is to help our young people discover who they are in Christ, become fruitful disciples and ultimately to grow the next generation of leaders in the church.

“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.”

1 Peter 2:9

In order to facilitate the vision we would love to grow the team and so I would ask you to prayerfully consider if this is an area in which you would like to serve.  If you would like to have a conversation about it please don’t hesitate to give me a shout!

God bless,

Cathy xxx
