Rock Chicks conference 2021 - Chosen

SUNDAY SERVICES: This month saw us welcome back refreshments and prayer after the service, which has led to more people staying to connect after the service.  Tryan Hunter led the church into a very personal and moving time of communion and we heard some amazing testimonies from some of the women who attended the Chicks Conference.

RPM: Chris and Paul Buckland led the monthly prayer meeting.  After an intimate time of worship the group split into small groups to pray for world affairs, people with needs, church ministries and up coming events.

NG WORSHIP NIGHT:  The Rock were able to host the NG worship night again this month. It was a great time of soaking and basking in the presence of God with no agenda. There was a real freedom in the spirit to just worship and give God all the glory. It felt like quite an intimate affair as the room wasn’t packed out but it gave space to just “be” in what feels like a busy season for many of us.

ROCK GROUPS - Rock groups opened up this month. It’s been an exciting time for people coming back together, especially as most of the groups prior to taking the summer holidays off were meeting online, and now we can finally meet in houses once again.  There was a gathering of all rock group leaders over a bite to eat to see how everyone was, welcome in our new rock group leaders Clare Cooper and Shevawn Green and most importantly – inform them of some up and coming changes and share some very exciting changes to the way Rock Groups will run from January… all will be revealed and unveiled in the weeks to come.

This September, the first women’s conference in two years took place. The ladies were very expectant and God didn’t let them down. The focus scripture was John 15:16 'You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.'

Over 80 women attended, Rock Chicks plus their friends, family and work colleagues. There was a wonderful buzz around the whole day and an amazing worship team who led everyone into the presence of God.

Lunch was a delicious afternoon tea with homemade cakes and some beautifully individually boxed cakes. The room was decorated with fresh flowers, bunting and balloons and the ladies took home a Chicks tote back with a whole selection of goodies inside.

The team chose to support ‘World of Worth’, a charity passionate about restoring dignity and hope to women and girls, helping them to understand that they have value and worth. The ladies were very generous in donating £1600.

Two women were honoured on the day, Lizzi Baskeyfield and Lynne Norman, which was a total surprise for them both.

The highlight of the day were the three speakers, Holly Crisp, Chis Buckland and Sarah Nutbrown. They brought testimonies and wisdom that touched hearts and left the group believing afresh that God has chosen each one of us, loves us and we have a great life ahead in Christ.

'I loved conference so much this year because it was  authentic, it was real and the ladies didn't have to pretend to have it altogether, it encouraged honesty.'  - Chris Buckland

'It was an absolute honour to speak at the Chicks Conference. I hope my testimony inspired other women about how faithful God is. I certainly felt ‘Chosen’ by God after speaking and felt very humbled.' -  Holly Crisp

'I really loved my first experience of chicks. Such a culture of love, honour, fun and presence.' - Lizzi Baskeyfield
