Our Senior Leadership Team together with our Board of Trustees met tonight to discuss how we move forward with our Sunday Services in light of the current circumstances.
The government has allowed worship services to continue with existing restrictions in place, but despite this, we have all agreed that in the current climate it would be in the best interests of all to not have the congregation in the building at this time. Instead we will be encouraging as many people as possible to engage with our live streamed services (as we did in November).
We believe we could have justifiably continued to physically meet - and desired to do so - in what is a safe space with all government guidance in place, but just because we ‘could’, doesn’t mean we ‘should’.
We have erred on the side of caution, mainly in consideration of the differing perspectives people have; not just our members, but our neighbours and the wider community. We value them all and our chief aim in the short term is to give people peace of mind.
We view this very much as a temporary measure and we have a six week period in our sights. However, we will be reviewing the situation every two weeks, and should more positive information be revealed relating to the safety of physically meeting again, then we will consider opening our doors again.
Until then we would encourage all to gather together online each week until further notice. 11.15am at https://therockchurchwb.online.church
